Acqua Di Gio Cologne Smell
This is one of the first aquatic fragrances to ever hit the market back in the 1990s. The opening is a splash of refreshing citrus, but not in your face. This is more of a relaxing splash of freshness. The drydown quickly comes and shows off a floral/fruity notes. There is a small note of salt which gives you a marine type feel. The salt not isn’t nearly as strong as Nautica Voyage or Bulgari Aqua. The floral isn’t really strong and doesn’t come off feminine in my opinion. The base comes in with a nice woody note that finishes it out very well.
Acqua Di Gio Usage
This is a mens cologne that you’re not going to want to wear on a first date. Not because it won’t get you complimented, but because it is so common. The popularity of this fragrance is extreme, and because of that it loses any “wow” factor or originality points. Also since its one of the mostly used fragrances you want to make sure a female doesn’t have a negative association (read horrible ex) with this cologne. This can easily be worn as a signature scent and in almost any occasion. I personally stick to this in the spring and summer as I do with most aquatics. If you don’t have a deep collection however this is something you can go to daily. The popularity of this fragrance is really the only thing holding it back. For application, I go with two sprays to the chest and two to the neck for a total of four sprays. This projects fairly well and again will get you complimented. The longevity is also fairly good, but not great as to be expected with any aquatic fragrance.
If you’re looking to buy a fragrance to use on a daily basis, or just want something that is very well done then ADG is a great buy. This cologne is popular for a reason, and it continues to be a top seller for over ten years. Again just be mindful of its popularity and be aware of it when applying and what you’re trying to project.
