The Givenchy Play bottle is made to look like a clear MP3 player. Very gimmicky in my eyes, but is well constructed. The juice is run of the mill in my opinion and lacks any real identity or passion. It starts with a bit of synthetic smell, which quickly fades to citrus. Then a slight bit of spicy emerges, just a little bit of pepper to let ya know that Play is here and kicking. I also get tons of vanilla which aren’t listed in any of the notes on any site, but I can assure you, there’s vanilla in this stuff. It’s a nice blend of spice and sweet, yet again nothing amazing.
Givenchy Play doesn’t project all that well on my skin. Within an hour or two it is very close to the skin and you have to search for it. Longevity is also not all that great, with it last 4-6 hours for me. Now I’ve read others getting 10+ hours a day with this one. That’s just not the case for me, which is a big reason it only got 3 stars. This can be worn really in any situation by anyone young. It’s got enough citrus to work well with the spring/summer. Yet it also has some nice spice/woods to it to make it work well in the fall/winter. It is a casual scent though, and would work best in a school/work setting. Anytime you want a pleasing and non offensive scent for those settings this works well. For me I think there are a lot better fragrances for evening wear.
Givenchy Play = Try
If you’re under 30 and looking for one bottle that you use all the time, this could be your fragrance. If you’re someone with a few bottles of cologne, and looking for something to add to the collection, I’d pass this one by. This is sort of a jack of all trades, very versatile fragrance, just doesn’t do anything really well so that I can recommend picking it up.

I guess it’s the skin type and chemistry because this fragrance lasts an easy 6 hours plus on my skin. While I agree the packaging is a complete gimmick, the cologne itself can be worn by most anyone. I don’t feel that it’s an immature or cheap scent. The price is right but I’m a bargain hunter and there’s always a bargain to be found.
