Gucci is known for their well made mens colognes, will Gucci by Gucci be one of them? First the bottle is very well made, with a decent sprayer and heavy glass. The interesting cap helps add to the visual appeal. The juice inside however isn’t as interesting as the bottle. The violet top notes are prominent in the opening and help create a pleasant opening. The middle adds a bit of spice from the pepper and a hint of tobacco. After the opening however this one just falls flat on it’s face.
The main issue with this fragrance is it’s lack of projection and longevity. If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, if I’m spending $50+ on a fragrance I want it to last. This one does not do that at all. In fact this has some of the worst longevity I’ve experienced. The opening truly isn’t that bad, and somewhat pleasant. It’s a nice fragrance that could be used in the cooler months. Unfortunately, this one lasts maybe two hours or me, and if I’m lucky I get four hours of it. For it to be such an underachiever in the longevity category it’d have to be an amazing fragrance to get a buy from me. This one however is not it. Coupled with the longevity issues, projection also fails short. The more sprays you add do not affect the amount of projection you’re getting. You just create a stronger scent bubble, which no matter what is very close to the skin. I have nothing against fragrances that aren’t loud, however this one has no punch to it at all. Again, it’s not good enough in other areas to get past this point.
To me this wouldn’t really work on a teenager, and would be best in the 21+ crowd, but possibly work 18+. This is a nice fragrance for what it is, and if you’re looking for something low key this could be it. I really see this working well for an intimidate occasion on a cool winter night. This won’t overpower anyone and in an intimidate setting will still get noticed. Outside of that setting I wouldn’t really see myself wearing this one.
