Jake comes in a brown colored bottle with a tin like lid on top. The bottle almost reminds me of a bug spray or something you’d find in the shed. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but that’s what comes to mind. This scent starts out with a strong alcohol type smell to it. This is rather synthetic opening that luckily fades away quickly. During the dry down you get a citrus note that is backed with some decent woods. It does smell pleasing, but nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering.
This cologne does have decent projection. With it being geared towards younger teens it takes into account that it may be overused. A few sprays of Jake by Hollister, and you’ll be able to get your point across. The issue however comes with the longevity. For me, I couldn’t get this stuff to last past six hours. Most days it was more like four hours and then it was just gone. I asked several people if they could smell it just to confirm it wasn’t my nose. It was confirmed every time that this cologne just had vanished.
Jake by Hollister is made and marketed for younger teens, mostly in high school. This is where you’ll probably find 1/3 of the guys wearing either this or a scent from A&F. For the target audience it does do its job. It can be worn in any season, and really be OK in any situation.
Jake by Hollister = PASS
For me I just can’t recommend this fragrance for anyone. For those of you out of high school, there are tons of better options out there. For those in high school, I think the same thing. Personally, I believe the juice is overpriced. For $40/$50 you can find a much better fragrance. Also this just lacks any originality. Like previously mentioned, it’s almost guaranteed that someone else in your class is going to be wearing this. If you want something that the women will love and can be worn in high school, check out Very Sexy for Him. It’s a great crowd pleaser, cheaper then Jake, and also probably not worn by many guys in high school. There are of course tons of other fragrances that will work as well. If you’d like a personalized recommendation feel free to contact me. I’m always free and willing to help with advice.
